Intern for Barrel of Monkeys!
- Do you want to learn how to run your own small non-profit arts education theatre company?
- Do you want to work with one of the most "uplifiting and engaging" theatre companies in the city?
- Do you like silly hats?
If you said yes yes YES, then you should be the BOM intern!
What is Barrel of Monkeys?
Take the mind of a 10 year-old child, a dash of creative writing, and a talented ensemble of professional actors, comedians, musicians and playwrights and you get: Barrel of Monkeys!
If you're looking at this page, you probably already know about what BOM does, but if not...you should check this out.
What does a Monkey intern do?
The BOM intern helps the BOM staff with a variety of projects that range from the ridiculous (typing scripts for stories based on videos of school performances) to the, well, typical (entering data from surveys into a database). Interns also assist with fundraising, marketing, and special events depending on their interest and skill levels. Web skills are a big plus, though not required. Interns are always welcome to observe and/or help out with our creative writing classes in the Chicago Public Schools and to attend rehearsals and performances.
Who is the perfect Monkey intern?
We’re looking for people who are dependable, responsible and have a good sense of humor! Computer skills are a must! Love for theatre, education and respect for a child’s imagination is a big bonus. 10 to 15 hours per week, mostly on weekday afternoons (mornings and/or evenings possible).
How do I apply?
E-mail Heidi with a one or two paragraph description of why you want to be the intern, a one paragraph description of your previous experience and your availability (including start/end dates).
NOTE: While current students are certainly welcome to apply, availability during regular office hours is key.
