Untitled (One Night, Grandfather)

By Joshua, South Shore Cultural Center Words @ Play Program
Poems That's Weird, Grandma

One night I laid in my bed
Sometimes I felt like I was dead
Then I went inside my brain
I also felt like I had something to gain
But the next thing I knew, I was
Sitting on my grandfather’s lap
I saw him wearing a red cap
I told him I missed him much
Then he said. “Sorry”, touching my head
Just one touch
I asked what have you been doing?
Just wishing you were here.
I looked at him
I was feeling my dream dim
I woke up like a dart
Feeling he was in my heart. *********

Monster Avenue

By Vanessa H. , Davis Square Words @ Play Program
Poems That's Weird, Grandma

On Monster Avenue, what you’ll find the most
are witches, vampires, zombies and ghosts.
But don’t let one be your host
because they will shred you to mostly bits…

You’ll have to use your wits
to cross Monster Avenue.

Ferrattos Tomato Basil

By Gabriella R., Berger Park Words @ Play Program
Poems That's Weird, Grandma

Tomato Basil is tasty and yummy!!
Oh sweet sweet tomato sauce
You are so good with my spaghetti
Without you I would have no spaghetti!
It is better than ever!!!!!!
(My opinion)
and I think this tomato sauce is the best than ever
And I love it because it has so many Italian names
Like Ferratos, Tomato Basil, and premium pasta sauce and tomato sauce.
And most of all
I love the color Red!!!!

Untitled (Red Rocket Ships)

By Kasey C., Berger Park Words @ Play Program
Poems That's Weird, Grandma

Red rocket ships ride the Milky Way
With monkeys eating maggots
Making more in the rocket ship with moms in the ship
Maggots attack back to the monkey
But mom stops the fight
Frank forgets to fry French fries in the frying pan
Forgetting to make monkey money
And get beautiful bananas for the forgetful monkeys
And a monkey plans to use for disastrous dinner
They keep talking when throw up throwing food
Finding maggots to eat
Mom throws pans
Parrot keeps peeping to the old peter pet

Where I’m From (Underwater)

By Romare J. , Tuley Park Words @ Play
Poems That's Weird, Grandma

I’m from the fish that
swims in the sea.
I’m from the octopus in
the dark crack.
I’m from the starfish that
sticks on rocks and sand.
I’m from the water the
fish live in.
I’m from the deep blue!
